Well, what a weekend that was! A fantastic Sevenstar Contest Cup 2022 sailed from our Medemblik base with racing, relaxing, plenty of partying and lots of good conversation.

And then after years of sailing a traditional flat-bottomed boat you suddenly have a C34.
That takes some getting used to, but then again not. The C34 is just as heavy as our former ship and that makes things easy. Predicting a bit where she wants to go and how, that works fine. We easily sail the IJsselmeer, even with a stronger wind and on the low side. Of course the Ijsselmeer has the same bad wave action as ever, but the C34 has little trouble with that. It is a stable ship and that gives the crew peace of mind. After all, your ship is as seaworthy as her crew😉
To get to know other skippers of a Contest, we thought it would be fun to participate in the Contest weekend at the beginning of June 2022 in Medemblik. Let’s see who else enjoys sailing a solid ship like a Contest. We participated in the recreational part of the weekend. The less competitive team, so to speak, with mainly older ships with new owners. Simply cozy. Eating ice cream in Enkhuizen, eating cake in Andijk. It was a nice get together with great hospitality. Although we skipped the social drinks due to the still slumbering Sars Cov 2 virus, the atmosphere was no less. Dinner @ Meijers 2.0 was fantastic. All in all a nice weekend with like-minded people and as far as I’m concerned an invitation to all owners with the older/smaller Contests to absolutely participate next year.
