New engine for a Contest 31 (not HT)

I am looking into an engine to replace the old Volvo MD2B that she currently has. I am looking at Beta Marine as they are a relatively easy fit and I can also get a good price on this brand. My question is what size engine? Beta recommend either a 20 or 25Hp. I'm tempted with the 20hp for the size, weight and also the cost of the engine but I don't want to regret this choice at a later date.

Does anyone have any opinions or experience on this?

If you keep in mind that the MD2b is a 25hp engine then the Beta 25 would be the logical choice. There is not that much difference in weigth and dimension between the Beta 20 and Beta 25, especially if you compare them with the MD2b 

And don't forget to get a new propellor as well for optimal performance.

Last year we replaced our md2b for a D1-30. I really do like this engine but a bit smaller engine would have been fine too. The torque on this engine is just unbelievable compared to the old md2b. The reason we choose for the D1-30 is it comes close to the md2b HP wise. We run it with an 3 fin propeller and do about 2000 rpm while cruising, it can go up to 3200 rpm. I thing it is nice to have a little extra power.

I don't know if I would have liked the D1-20 as it has only 19 Hp compared to 28 of the D1-30. I think if a D1-30 would have existed I would have gone for that one.

I would go for the Beta 25.
