Mast Tuning
« on: 10 July, 2010, 18:06:23 »
Hello from New England,

I have replaced much of the standing rigging on my Contest 33.  Does anyone know if there are specific tuning instructions available for the 33, preferably in English?  Also, what is the correct head-stay (fore-stay) pin to pin dimension? Perhaps this information is already posted but my language options are pretty much limited to English.

Thanks for your help.

Joe

Hi Joe, welcome to the forum. As far as I know there are no specific tuning instructions for the C33. It's just a classic basic masthead rig, nothing fancy. If you need some stuff for this I'll try to find something in English.

BJ,

Thanks for the clarification.  I guess the most important detail for me at this time is the original head stay length.  If someone has the pin to pin dimension it would help me greatly.  From there I have adequate information to complete a tune of the rig.

Regards.

Hi Joe, perhaps you can ask Dick Zaal the required dimension since he did some redesign on the C33. You can contact him through his website.

Joe, perhaps usefull: here   you can find the Selden manual on tuning and rigging. Also containing some hints and tips on masthead trimming.
