Hi,

you could send a mail to conyplex. (contestyachts.com)
although they had a fire they might be able to help you, you'll never know.  ;)

regards Ewout

Lui, I've send a mail to Contest to find out the year. There is still a paper archive so perhaps it can be retrieved. The Marstal engine is very cool, you are one of the few who still has that one.  :)

That's too bad, it would be really nice to see an original engine again. Perhaps you can contact the Marstal factory in Denmark, it still exists. The address is

c/o Finn Ligaard, Havnegade 11
5960 Marstal
Denmark
Telefoon : ‎+45  62 53 12 19
Fax : ‎+45  62 53 12 62

No website... :\

Is that fire damage in the lower site of the picture?

About the number: #59 was build in 1962, #304 was build in 1969. So you could be quite right with 1963. In that case you have almost the oldest boat that we know off....  :D

about the hullnumber i am not shure that its 90, because you turn around its 06...
but on the engine is 62...
the engine is frozen up and than the head spoiled, i can weld it but i need the
same structur for welding, in germany we call it "guss"
its the watercooling on the head...

Pff... that engine looks really bad.... a challenge to repare it, if possible.

I received an ansewer from Contest Yachts, thanks Marie-Claire, about the year of build. Hullnumbers 89 and 92 were build in august 1962 so your boat will be of the same date. Congrats, you have the oldest Contest of us all... :D
