Safety system for wheel steering
« on: 08 March, 2011, 12:47:37 »
Hi,
In the Contest 31, there is a small operture closed by an aluminium bolt just behind the wheel steering foot. (exactly where you stand up when you drive the boat)
When you open it, you can see the head of the rudder shaft.
I guess it's a security system in case of failure of the belt used in the steering wheel system.
Does anyone knows what looks like the needed tool to connect to this shaft ?  ???
Thanks

Depends on the head of te ruddershaft, in my C33 it's a 18mm (give or take) square axis and I have a matching socket. Welded on this socker there is an axis that raises a tiller just above the pedesteal. Haven't tried it yet, don't know if it wille work at all.

Hi,
Old topic, but I'm happy to share the solution.
There is a perfect security system on the C31 in case of issue with the steering wheel.
One inox pipe welded with customized socket makes its use very simple and safe.
Enjoy Contest ! ;)
