Contest 41 rudder stock leak
« on: 28 July, 2011, 14:38:50 »
I own a 1989 Contest 41.  I have a problem with a persistent leak from the top of the rudder stock.  I have removed the top bearing and the cap to the rudder stock and there is seal in the shaft, pink in colour.  Can anyone provide me with any information on this seal, or advise me where I might get a replacement?

Thanks for any help.

Perhaps too obvious but did you try to contact Medemblik Yacht Service (www.mys.nl) ?  A 1989 C41 is a relative new boat, I guess they should be able to give some advice. Alternative, contact Dick Zaal through his website , it's one of his designs.

I have contacted Contest and they have referred the query to their Service department.  I just though I would see if anyone on this forum had had a similar problem or knew of a solution.  Thanks for the Dick Zaal contact.

Well, perhaps anyone has since the question is only 1,5 hours old  :D

There are three members within the CYOC who have the same boat so perhaps they have some experience with this specific problem?

Hi Thomas. Since there are no answers in this thread I would advice to contact MYS or Dick Zaal (see above) as well. Seems to be a 1989 issue though   ;)
